Archangel Michael Orthodox Bookstore

What the Archangel Michael Bookstore Has to Offer

The purpose of Archangel Michael Orthodox Bookstore is to be an oasis of learning, healing, and spiritual renewal. People often come into the bookstore one or two at a time, which gives us the opportunity to get to know our customers. Sometimes they are looking for a gift for a friend, and sometimes they simply are curious about Eastern Orthodoxy. The adjacent Joy of All Who Sorrow Orthodox Church is strikingly beautiful; the eyes of newcomers tell the story of how a soul is able to respond to the look and feel of the ancient Christian Church.

The best part of the Archangel Michael Orthodox Bookstore is that it is filled with interesting books, captivating icons, prayer ropes, incense and incense burners, charcoal, CD’s representing traditional hymnody from all parts of the Christian world, religious jewelry, and an assortment of gift items. The welcoming face of a volunteer helper is always there to greet those who come through our doors.

Our books are categorized by subject, which includes Bibles, Bible Commentaries, Lives of Saints, Monasticism, Patristics, Church History, Spiritual Practice, Prayer, Children’s Books, and Contemporary Issues. We also have small booklets in Spanish and access to much more through various websites. Our computer is always on and available to search for books, publishers, and/or other Orthodox resources.

The walls of the bookstore are filled with all types and sizes of icons. Most of these icons have been imported from either Russia or Greece, although there are also selections from other countries and major suppliers in the United States. Icon greeting cards are available for $2 each, and postcards for $1.

For a very reasonable fee, beautifully written custom icons may be ordered from Greece with a turnaround time of 4 to 6 weeks. Sizes ranging from 5” x 7” to 8” x 10” (and larger) can be ordered, and customers may choose their favorite icon, painting, or photo to be recreated in traditional iconography. Samples of these icons can be viewed in the bookstore or by following the link of the Homepage of this website. Those who reside too far away to visit in person are encouraged to email a print of a saint or scene, and we will provide the price. With a deposit of 50%, the icon will soon be on its way. For more information please contact us by phone or email (see above).
